Getting started

What is ATL Thrift Guide?

A curated guide to Atlanta's independent thrift and antique stores. Browse vetted stores, plan efficient shopping routes, see what other thrifters are finding, and get curated local markets, swaps, and estate sales.

Do I need an account?

Not to look around. Without an account, you can browse every store, search and filter the list, see stores on the map, open any store's page, and try our curated routes. A free account lets you build your own routes, save stores and routes, share finds and comments, and get curated local events and submit your own.

Who can use the app?

You must be 16 or older and agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Account and sign-in

I didn't get my sign-up code.

Codes come from ATL Thrift Guide <info@atlthriftguide.com> and usually arrive within a minute. Check your Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders, and make sure you typed your email correctly. On the code screen, tap Send a new code (wait a minute between requests). Codes expire after 10 minutes, so use the newest one.

It says my email already has an account.

That email is already registered. Tap Sign in instead. If you don't remember your password, use Forgot password?

That username isn't available.

Usernames are unique and use 3 to 20 letters, numbers, periods, or underscores. Some names can't be used, like ones that look like our team's or that contain offensive words. The sign-up form shows whether a name is available as you type.

I forgot my password, or want to change it.

On the Sign in screen, tap Forgot password?, enter your email, and follow the link we send you to set a new password. Passwords need at least 8 characters, including a number and a special character.

Can I change my username or email?

You can update your profile photo, bio, favorite category, and neighborhood from Profile → Edit profile. To change your username or email address, contact us from the email on your account.

How do I sign out?

Go to Profile and tap Sign out.

Membership

Does it cost anything?

Not right now. Creating an ATL Guide Member account is free, and right now every member gets everything in the app: every store, your own routes, curated Atlanta events, saving your favorite stores and routes, the community, and submitting events. There are no payments of any kind in the app today.

Will there ever be paid features?

There are none today. If we offer paid features in the future, they'll be sold only through Apple's in-app purchase, and we'll update our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and ask you to agree to them first.

I don't see events or the save buttons.

Events and saving are for signed-in members. Make sure you're signed in, then close and reopen the app. If it still doesn't work, email us from the email on your account.

Stores and the guide

How are stores chosen?

Every store in the guide is reviewed by our team. We focus on independent thrift, vintage, consignment, and antique stores around metro Atlanta.

A store's hours or details are wrong, or it closed.

Open the store's page and tap Report an issue with this store. Choose what's wrong and add any details. Store hours and inventory change often, so we always recommend calling ahead before a special trip.

Can I suggest a store that isn't listed?

Yes. Sign in, go to the Discover tab, and tap Suggest under Know a store we're missing? You can also email us the store's name and location. We review every suggestion.

I own a store or run events. Can I be featured?

We'd love to hear from you. Email us about your store or event.

Routes, maps, and location

How do routes work?

Choose your starting point, what you're hunting for, and how much time you have, and we'll plan an efficient order of stops with estimated travel times. You can open the route in Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions, or share it.

Can I end my route somewhere specific?

Yes. In the route builder, under Have an end point in mind?, start typing any address or place and pick it from the list.

The app can't find my location.

Make sure location access is allowed for ATL Thrift Guide in your device settings (on iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services). You can also pick a starting neighborhood manually; the app works fine without location.

Is my location stored?

Not your exact location. Your iPhone uses it to suggest a starting point, show nearby stores, and start a route from where you are. To show the weather, we send a location rounded to about 1 km to our weather provider. A saved route keeps only the neighborhood it starts from and a note that it started from your location. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Events

Who can see events?

Every signed-in member can see our curated Atlanta events and submit an event for review.

How do I submit an event?

Tap Submit an event in the Events section. All fields are required except the flyer. An official website, ticket page, or social media post works for the event link. Let us know whether you're organizing it or just sharing something you found.

When will my event appear?

Our team reviews every submission before it's published, usually within a few days. We may edit details for clarity or decline events that don't fit the guide. We may contact you at the email you provide if we have questions.

An event's details are wrong or it was canceled.

Open the event and tap Report this event. Event details come from organizers and can change, so confirm with them before you go.

Community

How do I share a find?

Tap Share a find, add a photo, what it is, where you found it, and the price. Photos are automatically resized, and hidden location data is removed before upload.

Community guidelines

Be kind and keep it about thrifting. Don't post anything hateful, harassing, explicit, misleading, or spammy, don't post other people's photos or private information without permission, and don't advertise without our okay. Posts that break these rules may be removed, and accounts may be suspended. The full rules are in our Terms of Service.

Can I delete something I posted?

Yes. Tap Delete on any find or comment you posted. You can also delete comments other people leave on your finds. Deleting your account removes everything you've posted.

Safety, reporting, and blocking

How do you handle offensive content?

We don't allow offensive content or people who abuse others. We look at every report within 24 hours, take down anything that breaks our rules, and remove the accounts of people who post it. The app also won't accept finds, comments, usernames, bios, or events that contain certain offensive words.

How do I report a post or person?

Tap Report / Block on any find or comment, choose a reason, and add details if you like. For an event, open it and tap Report this event. Reports are private and go directly to our team.

How do I block someone?

Tap Report / Block on one of their finds or comments, then tap Block. You won't see their finds or comments, and they aren't notified. We also get a report so our team can take a look. To unblock someone, go to Profile → Blocked accounts.

Staying safe while thrifting

Meet any private sellers in public places, trust your instincts at estate and private sales, and never share personal or payment information in comments.

Is someone in danger?

If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911. Then report the content to us so we can act on it.

Privacy and your data

What information do you collect?

Only what we need to run the app. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and why. We don't sell your information or show ads.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. Email us from the address on your account, and we'll help.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Delete account, type DELETE, and confirm. This permanently deletes your account, profile, posts, photos, comments, likes, saved items, and notes. It can't be undone.

Troubleshooting

Something isn't loading or looks wrong.

Check your internet connection, then close the app completely and reopen it. Make sure you have the latest version from the App Store.

The address search doesn't show suggestions.

Type at least a few characters, like a business name and ZIP code (for example, "Target 30005"), and give it a second. If it still doesn't work, check your connection and try again.

Photos won't upload.

Make sure the app has permission to access your photos or camera in your device settings. Try a different photo; very large or unusual image formats can fail. Photos must be images (not videos).

Still stuck?

Email info@atlthriftguide.com with your account email, device, and what happened, and we'll take a look.

Read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. To opt out of the arbitration agreement in our Terms, email us within 30 days of first agreeing to the Terms, as described there.
